Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech is a dreamy, otherworldly place. In the 1980's it was home to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. The vibrant, unapologetic starkness of that deep blue and starlight yellow, grabbed at my heart and begged to be painted. I love the thin, angular, Art Deco design elements of the building and wanted to mirror that in both the composition and my depiction of the cacti and botanical gardens.
